Group 1001 and Indy Women in Tech Sponsor the Indiana Robotics State Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium

Group 1001 and Indy Women in Tech (IWiT) were proud to sponsor the Indiana Robotics State Championship on March 25 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The competition is the largest state championship in the country, gathering over 300 robotics teams from elementary, middle, and high schools across the state.

Joe Hogsett, Mayor of Indianapolis, and Dr. Katie Jenn, Indiana Secretary of Education, kicked off the event. Throughout the day, teams participated in three different components of the competition, the judges awards, the tournament/teamwork competition, and the skills challenge. Each component could qualify teams to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, TX. The teams worked together building not only robots but leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills that will be instrumental in their future careers and daily lives.

“For the past four years, IWiT has sponsored the Indiana Robotics State Championship in order to support the STEM development of Indiana’s youth,” said Jessica Maginn, from IWiT. “Watching these children passionately explain their creation, programming, and execution gave me substantial confidence in our next generation of leaders. The energy throughout the entire day was absolutely electrifying. Not to mention, seeing more than 50 teams of all girls was beyond inspiring and truly gratifying.”

Group 1001 is committed to creating positive change and taking part in building future leaders in technology. Many employees from the organization volunteered at the event, including set up and tear down, judging, and handing out awards.
