Group 1001 and Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation Transform Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Kendall Club Location

Miami, Florida (Jan. 10, 2024) – The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF), in partnership with Delaware Life Insurance, a Group 1001 company, started 2024 with a volunteer enhancement project at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Kendall Club location. Approximately 50 Delaware Life employees rolled up their sleeves this afternoon, completely revamping the Kendall Club’s youth spaces.

“Watching today’s efforts and subsequent transformation serves as a reminder of the difference a group of invested volunteers can make. We’re passionate about making a positive difference in the communities we serve,” said Colin Lake, President and CEO of Delaware Life Marketing. “The Boys & Girls Club provides a safe space for youth to learn and connect with others. It felt great to lend them a hand today.”

Volunteers worked to remodel the Kendall Club’s multi-purpose room, game room, athletic storage areas, and several classrooms with new furniture, flooring, paint, and other upgrades.

“We’re grateful for all the work that Delaware Life and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation did today,” said Alex Rodriguez-Roig, President of The Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade. “Their gift is a game changer for the kids and our staff. It's just an amazing before and after that will have a direct impact the organization has on kids.”

The enhancement project was made possible through CRSF’s five-year, $5 million partnership with Zionsville-based Group 1001. The gift, provided by Group 1001 in 2022, supports the Foundation’s initiative to assist underserved communities across the country.

“Our mission is to help strengthen America’s most underserved and distressed communities by supporting and advocating for children and addressing community needs," said Steve Salem, President and CEO of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation. "We're grateful for our partnership with Group 1001 and Delaware Life Insurance. We know their volunteer efforts will help make a difference for the kids.”
